Tiny and Grand Adventures: Connecting Generations Through Play

At Jesmond Community Preschool, we believe in the power of connection, learning, and shared experiences. That’s why we are so excited to introduce Tiny and Grand Adventures—a special program designed to bring together our preschool children with the older members of our community. Through this initiative, we are fostering meaningful relationships across generations, creating opportunities for learning, laughter, and mutual enrichment.

Our first Tiny and Grand Adventure took place last week when residents from Bupa Retirement Village in Waratah visited our preschool for an afternoon of outdoor play. From digging in the sandpit to exploring the garden and engaging in simple games, the experience was filled with joy and curiosity. The children welcomed their visitors with open arms, eager to share their space and their stories, while our guests embraced the energy and excitement of young minds at play.

This program is more than just a visit—it’s an opportunity for growth and understanding for everyone involved. For our children, interacting with older generations helps develop empathy, respect, and communication skills. They gain new perspectives, hear fascinating life stories, and learn the value of kindness and companionship. For our visiting community members, the experience provides a sense of purpose, belonging, and joy.
